Böllhoff Group toolmaking awarded
Best internal toolmaking with less than 50 employees
In this year’s Excellence in Production industry competition, our toolmaking department won the category "Internal toolmaking under 50 employees". The award ceremony took place on 26 October 2022 in the Coronation Hall of the historic Aachen City Hall. A total of 11 finalists were honoured in 4 categories.
Industry 4.0 integration in toolmaking as a key for success
The jury was particularly positive about the implementation of the Industry 4.0 strategy in our toolmaking department, including the use of cross-technology automation solutions. For example, the Böllhoff production facilities around the globe are linked to each other in order to be able to track the current tool status at any time. If a problem occurs with a tool, the cause of the malfunction is displayed on a dashboard by means of colour coding.
As an internal competence centre, Böllhoff toolmaking supplies our production sites worldwide with injection moulds for the series production of fasteners.
About Excellence in Production
In the Excellence in Production industry competition, the best tool and mould making companies in the German-speaking countries are awarded every year – in a total of 4 categories. Initiators of the competition are the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering of RWTH Aachen University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology.
In 2022, over 260 tool and mould making companies took part, 11 of them were honoured in the finals on 26 October. The Excellence in Production competition was already held for the 19th time this year.
