Photovoltaic systems at Böllhoff

The photovoltaic system on the roof of the new Böllhoff Phase V building complex in Wuxi, China

To use every technically suitable roof in Germany to produce solar power by 2025 - and also commission more systems internationally: We have set ourselves this goal and already communicated it in the Böllhoff Sustainability Report 2021. Time for a short interim report.

Interim status of the PV expansion campaign

Renewable energies - and photovoltaics in particular - are an important building block for a sustainable energy supply. In order to further optimize our own energy mix, we are currently building new PV systems or increasing the capacity of some of our existing plants. Priority is being given to plants on new buildings or production units with high capacity utilization forecasts. We currently have just under 1.1 MWp of total capacity in operation in Germany and internationally, with a further 881 kWp to be added in the near future. The following illustration provides an overview of the current status of our photovoltaic offensive in Germany and internationally.

Best Practice

Our plants in China and Romania

We expanded our capacities at our sites in Wuxi (China) and Oradea (Romania) in 2023 - and put new building complexes into operation in each case. Naturally, the focus of these measures was on renewable energies. The new buildings in both Wuxi and Oradea are heated by heat pumps. The electricity required for this is partly generated by our own photovoltaic systems - in the case of our site in Wuxi, this is currently the largest PV system in the entire Böllhoff Group. In its current expansion stage, it has an output of 800 kWp; an expansion to up to 1.3 MWp is possible in the future.
