Böllhoff is actively involved in the standards of the railway industry, such as the DIN 25201-4 standard, which regulates the securing of high-strength screw connections in rail vehicle construction.

The manufacture of rail vehicles is a complex process that includes several stages. When it comes to spare parts, in particular, it can take years until they are actually in use. This also applies to gear couplings, which are often affected by this problem. Due to long storage periods, there is a risk that the covers of couplings will be opened and the screw lock will become ineffective, which in turn would cause the screws to loosen during subsequent operation. To avoid this problem, effective protection is required that can prevent the coupling cover from being opened.
